Community Bridge is a large-scale mural by artist William Cochran created for a park in
Fredrick, Maryland.  The idea of the mural is to bring people in the community together through artwork.  Browse through the site.  Make sure to take a look at all of the main links on the site (on the bottom of the screen) to find out about the bridge, its history, and what purpose the artwork serves to its community.  What was your first impression of the project?

How amazing it is to have thought of such a brilliant idea! What more to unite the different people that could be alike then with a bridge! I wonder if it could have been a sign or a symbol. They could have used something else.To bad that the bridge will get rusty and collapse….eventually.But still, for now it’s the most beautiful bridge I have ever seen!I swear!

kg, I do not know, but since it is stone it will not rot away. And if it does the people in fredrick would be very sad, I’m sure.

I cant believe it took 4.3hours to make 1 stone and if they wanted to connect the rich and poor that much then they must have loved the cummnity and everyone in it very much to make alot of stones that took 4.3 hours to make each.

AGM and KG I too am thinking that it is a good idea for people to make art that inspires a community to find similarities and bridge differences. I am wondering if we have any “symbols” at our school that bridge teachers to students or younger students to older students?

Dear mrs.Mcauley,I think that if we could get our old mascot back, it could unite teachers with students and help us get to know each other more and see each other in different points of views!
